NSDR + YOGA NIDRA
SERVICES
NSDR + YOGA NIDRA
NSDR + Yoga Nidra guide the brain and body into deeply restorative states, similar to the early stages of sleep, while the mind remains aware.
As the nervous system shifts away from chronic stress and toward rest and recovery, the brain and body are given an opportunity to restore, integrate, and replenish. Unlike many meditation practices, NSDR + Yoga Nidra do not require concentration, effort, or the ability to quiet the mind. You are simply guided through breath, body awareness, and gentle sensory attention while resting comfortably, allowing the process to unfold naturally.

NSDR (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) and Yoga Nidra are practices that support deep rest, nervous system regulation, and recovery. While Yoga Nidra has roots in ancient yogic traditions, NSDR is a more recent term popularized by Dr. Andrew Huberman to describe practices that guide the brain and body into deeply restorative states of rest while remaining awake.
These practices support interoception, our awareness of internal body sensations, and gently bring attention back to the present moment and the body itself. Over time, this can help cultivate a greater sense of safety, self-awareness, and nervous system flexibility.
Research suggests that regular practice may support reduced stress, improved sleep quality, increased heart rate variability (HRV), emotional well-being, and overall resilience. Many people also report feeling more grounded, rested, and connected to themselves after practice.
-
As the body relaxes, the nervous system shifts away from stress and survival responses and toward restoration and recovery. Heart rate slows, breathing becomes more efficient, and the body can access states associated with healing, repair, and replenishment.
At the same time, attention gradually turns inward, supporting greater awareness of the body and internal sensations. This process helps strengthen interoception, improve nervous system flexibility, and cultivate a greater sense of safety and ease within the body.
Research suggests NSDR + Yoga Nidra may support stress reduction, sleep quality, emotional well-being, recovery, focus, resilience, and overall nervous system regulation. Many people report feeling more grounded, rested, clear-headed, and connected to themselves after practice.
With repetition, these practices can help build the capacity to shift out of chronic activation more easily and access states of calm, restoration, and recovery throughout daily life.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. NSDR + Yoga Nidra translate beautifully to online sessions.
Because these practices are guided and internally focused, many people find practicing from the comfort of their own home allows the nervous system to settle more easily into states of rest and restoration.
-
Falling asleep or even snoring can happen especially for people navigating chronic stress, anxiety, burnout, fatigue, or sleep disruption. It is nothing to feel embarrassed about.
In our initial session, we’ll talk about ways to support your comfort and help create the experience that feels best for you.
There is no pressure to “do it perfectly.” We simply work with what your nervous system needs in the moment.
-
Yes. You may actually find it easier than you expect.
NSDR + Yoga Nidra is practiced lying down (or whatever position works for you), fully supported, and entirely guided. You don't need to clear your mind, hold still, or do anything correctly. The practice meets you exactly where you are, including restlessness, racing thoughts, and an overactive nervous system.
In fact, people who struggle with traditional meditation or find it difficult to slow down often respond particularly well to these practices. The guidance gives the mind something to follow, which makes it easier to settle than sitting in silence trying not to think.
If restlessness or hypervigilance is part of your experience, that is not a reason to avoid this work — it may be one of the strongest reasons to try it.

NSDR (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) is a term coined by Dr. Andrew Huberman and refers to practices that help the brain and body access deeply restorative states while remaining awake.
Yoga Nidra is the traditional practice these sessions are rooted in. During Yoga Nidra, a person may appear to be asleep, yet awareness remains present at a deeper level. For this reason, Yoga Nidra is often described as psychic sleep or deep relaxation with inner awareness.
In Sanskrit, Yoga Nidra may be interpreted as “the sleep that is yoga,” “the sleep caused by yoga,” or “the sleep of yoga.”
I use both terms because my work bridges traditional Yoga Nidra with a neuroscience-informed and neurosomatic perspective. The term NSDR reflects my neuroscience-informed background and the lens of nervous system regulation, recovery, and brain–body restoration that I bring to this work, while Yoga Nidra honors the tradition and practice itself.
